Genesis 1:26 – “Let Us”: God Speaks to His Son

Genesis 1:26 And God said: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”

Some trinitarians argue that Yahweh, by using the word “us”, is referring to Himself as more than one person. In reality, if a persons says to his son, “Let us build our house according to our original plan,” no one think that the Father and his son are both one man; nor should such be assumed in Genesis 1:26,27.

Yahweh, of course, was speaking to someone when he said “us”. Other scriptures reveal that Yahweh, the only true God, was speaking to his Son (John 17:1,3,5), through whom all the world of mankind of John 1:3,10 was made. — See also Colossians 1:16.

This does not mean that we need to read into what Yahweh said that Jesus is a distinct person of the only true God.
